Timothy Q. Mouse and Stanley

Timothy Q. Mouse:

Timothy Q. Mouse was adopted from the phenomenal micro-rescue, Tiny Paws MCR. Sometimes, even we have to adopt animals in need. Of course, Timothy will stay as a permanent resident within our permanent mischief of domesticated house mice.

Timothy is a neutered male mouse. Tiny Paws MCR decided to neuter him after he started fighting with the other males within his family. Once they'd decided he couldn't safely live amongst male mice, and it was unlikely they'd find female multimammates, it was within his best interest to be neutered.

Stanley:

Stanley was a lone male multimammate from Notts Nibblers Rodent Rescue. Notts Nibblers decided to close their doors after many successful active years. The work they put into their animals cannot be underestimated. As they were closing, they were pushing to rehome their remaining animals. Stanley was one of them.
We know how challenging Mutlimammates can be, so we applied to adopt one of their lone males in need of companionship. We also planned to bond Stanley to our permanent resident mischief of domesticated house mice.
Unfortunately, around about the time we were hoping to collect Stanley, he started with gross haematuria and urinalysis highlighted ketonuria.

We both mutually arranged that we would still take Stanley as planned, but we would have him admitted to our vets the following day.
The vets took some general radiographs to try and rule out large bladder or kidney stones.
Fortunately, no stones could be seen on the X-Ray. The vet believed Stanley was suffering from cystitis and decided to try him on off-license supplement usually used to treat FLUTD, Nutracy + (containing N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine, Quercetin and L-Tryptophan). Nutracy works by promoting the normal function of the urinary tract whilst reducing stress and anxiety - common exacerbators for some forms of cystitis. He was also introduced to 1mg:1kg Metacam/Meloxicam (NSAID) for relief from pain and inflammation.
After many months of supplements and non-steroidals, Stanley's symptoms subsided. Now, Stanley and Timothy Q. mouse are happy living amongst the other mice.
