R.I.P Frodo
Hello again readers,
It seems as if we have a lot of upsetting news to break to everyone recently. I promise to get round to posting some happier stories in the near future.
Sadly, we recently found Frodo in his forever sleep.
Frodo was a very old hamster, we suspect he passed away due to old age. He looked very peaceful, he was in his favorite house all curled up as if he was sleeping.
Frodo came to us after we received a message from a friend.
The story we were given was;
Previously Frodo had chewed out his cage, and was running loose around his original owners home. Our friend was told if they didn't pick him up within 24 hours "he would be left for the cat", as they were unwilling to buy him a new cage.
Many times, these are just empty threats so you feel forced to collect their animals, but you can't always be sure.
When our friend collected Frodo, he was very timid and frightened. During the time they had Frodo, they had gotten a few nasty bites. As they had small children, they would it would be best if he came to us.
We agreed to collect Frodo, and Andy went and picked him up.
When Frodo arrived, we quickly discovered Frodo wasn't all that aggressive, he was just a very grumpy hamster when he first woke up! Frodo definitely didn't like to be disturbed when he was sleeping, just like most of us.
Bearing that in mind, we decided to work on building Frodo's confidence with people after he had chance to properly wake up and within a matter of hours, Frodo was a very friendly and loving hamster towards everyone.
He was one of the easiest hamsters to tame.
Frodo absolutely loved having his fur brushed, he had a serious case of "bed head" every day. He looked like he'd been through the wars with his fuzzy long-haired coat when he first woke up. We used to comb and brush Frodo's hair frequently, and he would sit there for hours whilst you did so. He used to rock many different hair do's, I think he found it relaxing.
Frodo didn't suffer any health issues during his time in our care.
He lived to a grand old age of around 2.5-3 years old, which is great for a Syrian hamster.
Frodo passed away peacefully on the 17th October 2017.
Good night Frodo, you will be deeply missed.
